Following the coronight night, Miss Australia wrote another historic moment as it bagged its first-ever Miss Earth 2024 crown!
Participated by 75 official candidates, the prestigious international beauty pageant returned to the Philippines and was held at Okada Manila on Saturday.
In the past months, the participants prepared hard to unleash their outer and inner beauty. But in the end, Miss Australia Jessica Lane touched the hearts of the majority of the viewers and judges, lauding her dedication to various environmental advocacies as a journalist.
In her interview post-pageant, Lane's down-to-earth personality also stood out, sharing her win with her fellow candidates.
"It could have been any of these women. Each of them was inspiring, and empowering, and I just feel so incredibly grateful."
After becoming the successor of Miss Earth 2023 Drita Ziri of Albania, Lane has been preparing to use her platform to "inspire people and make a change."
Firstly, the environmental journalist combined with her power as a beauty queen will address the controversy of using shark nets in Australia. She is also looking into promoting sustainable fashion and it's just the tip of the iceberg.
Meanwhile, Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir from Iceland became Miss Earth-Air, Bea Millan-Windorski of the US as Miss Earth-Water, and Niva Antezana from Peru as Miss Earth-Fire.
